I strongly believe in immigrant founders: I saw firsthand the sheer tenacity of my parents who built a business while raising two daughters in a country where everything was foreign to them. I viscerally appreciate the challenges and the hopes of those chasing the American Dream—for many immigrants, there is more at stake than just their company. I nearly drowned as a child. I sobbed all day, and the day after that, I asked to enroll in swimming lessons. There are moments where every founder feels like they’re drowning—I want to be their first call when that happens. I started doing research in immunology when I was in middle school. I did translational oncology at Genentech, and then studied a new protein target to slow Alzheimer’s in college. At Stanford, I was able to marry my interests in biology with statistics and computer science, and I am excited to meet entrepreneurs innovating at that intersection.

Avichal Garg’s tour through tech began at Google, and he landed at Facebook in 2012 after the social-media giant bought Spool, his mobile bookmarking startup. At Facebook, he led product management for a 400-engineer team. His investing career involved a brief stint at Y Combinator, after which he struck out on his own to build Electric Capital, a firm that invests across fintech and crypto. He’s now among the beneficiaries of a wave of capital pouring into Web3 — a catchall term for crypto, blockchain, and metaverse companies — with two newly closed funds worth $1 billion.

Ravi focuses on investments in enterprise IT, mobility, and Internet and cloud-based services and applications. Ravi has 17 years of venture capital experience and before entering venture capital, he ran a product management group at Silicon Graphics and also worked in management consulting at Booz Allen and as a software engineer for BDIS, a Silicon Valley biotech instruments manufacturer. His current investments include Nutanix, Appdynamics, Natera, Mulesoft, Sailpoint, Edgespring, TheFind and Kixeye, and has been recognized on the Forbes Midas List of top venture capital investors.
