About this Sheet

Southeast Asia is not one market—it's a patchwork of six to ten distinct economies with different regulations, languages, and investor expectations. Singapore dominates capital flows (capturing over 90% of regional funding in recent periods), so even if you're building for Indonesian or Vietnamese consumers, you'll likely need to route your fundraise through Singapore-based funds. Many investors on this list maintain dual mandates: they're headquartered in Singapore for LP and regulatory reasons but deploy specifically into Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, or the Philippines. Before you pitch, figure out which bucket a fund falls into—some want Singapore-incorporated holding companies regardless of where you operate, others explicitly back local founders building for local markets. The distinction matters for your cap table structure and the kind of operational support you'll actually receive.

The fundraising climate here has shifted hard toward profitability and unit economics. The growth-at-all-costs playbook that worked in 2021 will get you ghosted in 2026. Seed-stage funding has contracted significantly while late-stage capital has surged, meaning investors are being far more selective at the early stages and reserving dry powder for proven winners. If you're pre-revenue, expect longer diligence cycles and more questions about your path to contribution margin than your TAM slide. Sector-wise, this list skews toward what the region actually produces: fintech (payments, lending, insurance), B2B SaaS, logistics, and increasingly climate tech and AI infrastructure. Consumer plays still get funded, but you'll need to show retention cohorts and LTV/CAC ratios that would make a DTC brand in the US jealous. One tactical note: the accelerator ecosystem here (Surge, Antler, Iterative) carries real signaling weight with downstream investors—acceptance often functions as a preliminary diligence stamp that can accelerate your Series A conversations.
