Ali focuses on crypto investments. Before Andreessen Horowitz, he was a software engineer and researcher at Google X, where he worked on the Everyday Robot project, which aims to build a robot that is smart and affordable enough to be viable as a consumer product for the home. He also worked at Google Brain, Google’s Artificial Intelligence lab, where he was a core developer on TensorFlow, Google’s primary library for machine learning. Ali began his career as a student and researcher at Stanford University, where he focused on the intersection of Computer Security, Distributed Systems, and Computer Networking. He first discovered the Bitcoin whitepaper in 2010 while doing research at Stanford Computer Security Lab, and has followed the space closely ever since.

Ashwin Ramachandran is a General Partner at Dragonfly Capital. He was a Research Engineer at ThunderCore. He attended Duke University.

Chris has been at Andreessen Horowitz since 2012. He founded and is leading a16z Crypto, which invests in web3 technologies through three dedicated funds with more than $3 billion under management. Previously, Chris was the cofounder and CEO of two startups, SiteAdvisor and Hunch. SiteAdvisor was an internet security company that warned web users of security threats. The company was acquired by McAfee in 2006. Hunch was a recommendation technology company that was acquired by eBay in 2011. Chris has been a prolific seed investor, cofounding Founder Collective, a seed venture fund, and making a number of personal angel investments in various technology companies. Chris started programming as a kid, and was a professional programmer after college at the high-speed options trading firm, Arbitrade. He has a BA and MA in Philosophy from Columbia and an MBA from Harvard.

Ash has been leading investments in seed-stage crypto companies and protocols since 2015, having led early investments in now pillar crypto companies and protocols. Before founding Archetype, he was a Partner at Accomplice leading the firm’s blockchain/crypto practice. Ash also previously co-launched the venture arm of ConsenSys and spent time at Converge VC in Boston.
