Ali grew up in Tehran during the Iran-Iraq war, attended Harvard, and sold his first startup, LinkExchange, in 1998.

Fred Ehrsam is co-founder of Coinbase. He's been named to both Forbes 30 Under 30 and TIME Magazine's 30 Under 30 Who Are Changing the World. Previously, he was a foreign exchange trader at Goldman Sachs in New York where he traded and managed Goldman’s electronic market making platform. Fred has also analyzed portfolios at BlackRock,the largest asset manager in the world and worked in nanostructures research. He holds a BS in Computer Science and Economics with honors and distinction from Duke University.

Christopher Manning is the inaugural Thomas M. Siebel Professor in Machine Learning in the Departments of Computer Science and Linguistics at Stanford University, Director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL), and an Associate Director of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI). His research goal is computers that can intelligently process, understand, and generate human language. Manning is the most-cited researcher within NLP, with best paper awards at ACL, Coling, EMNLP, and CHI and well-known work on applying deep neural networks to NLP, including neural machine translation, parsing, sentiment analysis, natural language inference, question answering, and summarization. He founded the Stanford NLP group and manages development of the Stanford CoreNLP and Stanza software.

Pieter Abbeel is Professor and Director of the Robot Learning Lab at UC Berkeley [2008], Co-Director of the Berkeley AI Research (BAIR) Lab, Co-Founder of covariant.ai [2017], Co-Founder of Gradescope [2014], Advisor to OpenAI, Investment Partner at AIX Ventures, Advisor to many AI/Robotics start-ups. He works in machine learning and robotics. In particular his research focuses on making robots learn from people (apprenticeship learning), how to make robots learn through their own trial and error (reinforcement learning), and how to speed up skill acquisition through learning-to-learn (meta-learning). His robots have learned advanced helicopter aerobatics, knot-tying, basic assembly, organizing laundry, locomotion, and vision-based robotic manipulation.

Prior to AIX Richard was a former Salesforce Chief Scientist where he built & led a 520-person team of Al engineering, research, & product. Richard is also an active angel investor backing 30+ startups in the AI space as well as 16 funds.
