Twice a year YC invests $500,000 per company in a large number of startups. They work intensively with the companies for three months, to get them into the best possible shape and refine their pitch to investors. Each cycle culminates in Demo Day when the startups present their companies to a carefully selected, invite-only audience.

Naval Ravikant is the CEO and a co-founder of AngelList. He previously co-founded Epinions (which went public as part of Shopping.com) and Vast.com. He is an active Angel investor, and have invested in dozens of companies, including Twitter, Uber, Yammer, Stack Overflow and Wanelo.

Alex focuses on investing in financial services. Prior to joining the firm, Alex co-founded multiple companies including Affirm ($AFRM), which he co-founded with Max Levchin, FraudEliminator (acquired by McAfee in 2006), Point, TrialPay (acquired by Visa in 2015), TXN (acquired by Envestnest in 2019), and Yub (acquired by Coupons.com in 2013). Holds a BA in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Harvard University.

Williams is one of the founders of the Sara & Evan Williams Foundation and has served as a member of the board of directors since May 2007. From October 2008 to October 2010, Williams served as our President and Chief Executive Officer, from July 2009 to March 2010, as the company's Chief Financial Officer, and from February 2008 toOctober 2008, as its Chief Product Officer. Since April 2011, Williams has served as Chief Executive Officer of Medium, an online publishing platform, and since October 2006, as Chief Executive Officer of The Obvious Corporation, a technology systems innovator. Williams was selected to serve on its board of directors because of the perspective and experience he brings as one of our founders and as one of its largest stockholders, as well as his extensive experience with technology companies.

Jay has more than 15 years of experience in the software industry. Jay was the former president of Atlassian, an award-winning enterprise software company that helps teams collaborate, build software and serve their customers better; more than 43,000 large and small organizations – including Citigroup, eBay, Coca-Cola, Gilt Group, Proctor & Gamble, BMW, and NASA – use Atlassian’s tracking, collaboration, communication, service management, and development products to work smarter and deliver quality results on time. He began his career at Plumtree Software where he held a variety of senior marketing and sales roles. Significantly, Jay oversaw the company's expansion throughout Europe and the Asia Pacific. When Plumtree was acquired by BEA Systems in 2005, Jay became vice president of marketing for BEA Systems, which was later acquired by Oracle in 2008.
