Twice a year YC invests $500,000 per company in a large number of startups. David Cowan is one of the world’s leading investors, having funded Seed, Series A, and Series B rounds that led to over 30 IPOs. David was ranked sixth on the Midas List and tied for fourth in the Midas List of Hall of Fame. David has co-founded three cybersecurity companies incubated within Bessemer’s offices: VeriSign (NASDAQ: VRSN), serving as initial Chairman and CFO; Good Technology (fka Visto, acquired by Blackberry) serving as CEO; and Defense.net (acquired by F5). He earned an AB in computer science / mathematics and an MBA, both from Harvard University. Today he serves on several non-profit boards including the Center for Inquiry and the Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. He is the co-writer of the Silicon Valley mockumentary series “Bubbleproof,” and producer of the award-winning MTV Documentary film “Afghan Dreamers.”

Mary is a partner and co-founder of the growth investment practice at Bessemer Prior to Bessemer, Mary worked in Equity Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley and held roles at Apple and at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Mary graduated with honors with an A.B. in Politics from Princeton University and holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management

Paul Graham is the author of On Lisp (1993), ANSI Common Lisp (1995), and Hackers & Painters (2004). In 1995, he and Robert Morris started Viaweb, the first SaaS company, which in 1998 became Yahoo Store. In 2002 he discovered a simple spam filtering algorithm that inspired the current generation of filters. He has an AB from Cornell and a PhD in Computer Science from Harvard.

Previously a co-founder and CEO of Justin.tv from 2007 2011 and the co-founder and CEO of Socialcam in 2012. Graduated from Yale University with a bachelor's degree in political science.

Prior to founding SignalFire, Chris was a Venture Partner with General Catalyst Partners (2010–13), where he played a significant role in establishing the California office. He led GC’s successful seed investment program including seed investments in Alation, ClassDojo, Coinbase, Discord, Fivetran, Game Closure/PlayCo, Getaround, Stripe, Venmo, and Zapier. Chris was previously a Vice President with Bessemer Venture Partners (2005–09) where he led investments in digital media and mobile companies. Prior to Bessemer, Chris was a Consultant with Bain & Company where he advised on technology buyouts. Chris began his career on Wall Street in the private equity group of Cowen & Company.
