Hack VC was one of the first institutional investors in frontier technologies like Web3 and AI, supporting founders from idea to global scale since 2014. We are a team of VCs, founders, developers, and researchers who build alongside the founders we back. Additionally, they run hack.labs(), which is their internal R&D arm. Composed of engineers, quant traders, and their own internal tech platform, they are the first users of their own products. hack.labs() capabilities include on-chain crypto network participation, a venture studio for incubations, and a research division. Finally, they also run Hack Summit, which, one of the largest communities for Web3 developers with 130K+ engineers from 157 countries.

What Makes them Unique
Video Interview
On why founders should think of their cap table as a strategic tool
"It's more about growing the pie than getting a larger share of the pie. And it's a binary outcome, either you hit or you don't. And a lot of ways to do that is using your cap table as leverage and really thinking about the composition of who's there and why, and what did they all bring."
On what he actually looks for in a first meeting
"Is this a problem that exists and that's worth solving? Does the team have a right to play? Is there a reasonable business model? Have they thought critically about what they're doing, how they're going to make money? And then the last thing that's always at the back of my mind is, can we get venture scale returns from the entry point, from the valuation?"
On the power of getting a VC talking about their own thesis
"I only have so many bullets in my clip, and I only have so much airtime in IC. And so if you get me talking about what I'm seeing... that might be the thing where I'm gonna deprioritize other things and really fight for this one company."
On the reality of fundraising and a message to founders
"Dear Founders: I see you, it's tough. It's good that it's glamorous. Because if it wasn't, I don't think people would do it. Starting something is hard and then convincing VCs to fund it, it's hard. Kudos to everybody out there."
