LG Technology Ventures runs its investment decisions out of a small team in Silicon Valley, led by CEO Dong-Su Kim, and includes an in-house business development group that connects startups with LG's business units, all backed by several LG affiliates in a dedicated fund of about $780 million. Led by Kim, a physicist and engineer with prior experience at Samsung Ventures, the fund focuses on areas like electrification beyond electric vehicles and enterprise-focused AI and semiconductor infrastructure, and has taken repeated, deeper positions in companies such as Element Energy and WeaveGrid to link them with LG's energy and battery capabilities.
