Omnes was one of the first venture capital firms in Europe to focus on renewable energy, launching France’s first private equity fund dedicated to the sector in 2006, and in 2023 it sold off its buyout and private debt businesses to concentrate fully on energy transition and defense-related deeptech. In deeptech, Omnes backs companies that already have revenue or order backlogs rather than early seed-stage startups, favors dual-use companies that sell directly to governments instead of going through prime contractors like Airbus or Thales, and was the first fund in Europe to benefit from the EU's InvestEU defense mandate.
