PETRONAS Ventures splits its investing into two regional arms—Piva Capital in San Francisco for North America and Europe, and Twin Towers Ventures in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East—and pairs its investments with an in-house accelerator and deployment program that helps startups pilot and scale within PETRONAS business units. Its portfolio reaches beyond oil and gas into areas like autonomous electric aircraft, protein-based sweeteners, and geologic hydrogen, and includes startups such as Braintree, an agritech robotics company backed partly through PETRONAS' fertilizer expertise, and SOLS Energy, a solar company that also runs Malaysia's first Solar Academy for youth training.
