RTX Ventures is built to invest in outside startups rather than scout for internal R&D, splitting its focus evenly between commercial aerospace and defense, and it says it is not interested in using investments to set up mergers or acquisitions. With backing from senior RTX leadership, the six-person team can move from introduction to investment in as little as three weeks, draws about $16 from other investors for every $1 it puts in, and uses a dedicated program portfolio function to connect startups directly with RTX business units.
