Unruly’s core idea is what they call “the decentralization of the real world”: backing startups that bring production of food, energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure closer to home instead of relying on giant centralized systems, following the earlier decentralization of money and software. The fund is also unusually open about how it works, publishing details like closing dates, check sizes, and ownership stakes, and rather than making a few large, concentrated bets, it spreads investments widely—Fund I alone is set to include around 70 companies.
