Amal Dorai came into venture investing through product experience rather than finance, having worked on PowerPoint at Microsoft and later at LiveLoop, and he joined Anorak after writing publicly about a personal realization about virtual reality and reaching out directly to Anorak's Greg Castle. He's also a two-day Jeopardy champion who later returned for the show's Champions Wildcard Tournament, and as a father of three he eventually stepped back from investing to build his own company, Cartwheel, focused on making better technology for kids.
