Bill Miller brings an unusually deep technical background to venture capital, having co-founded multiple hardware and semiconductor startups including StorageNetworks (which he took public as CTO), a solid state disk company, and a nonvolatile Ferroelectric RAM startup acquired by National Semiconductor, while also holding 12 U.S. patents in circuit fabrication and memory design. He continues operating companies alongside investing, currently serving as Chairman and CEO of X-IO/Axellio while running FirstMile Ventures, where he focuses on early-stage infrastructure and data companies in Colorado after previously angel investing in 26 companies with notable exits to Cisco, HP, and Oracle.
