Qbic Fund is an inter-university venture fund that works with tech-transfer teams across multiple Belgian universities, research institutes, and hospitals, often coaching scientific teams for about a year before a spin-off is even created, and backs a wide range of fields—deeptech, software, biotech, medtech, healthtech, and hardware—from that same network of research partners. It has turned academic spinouts into concrete outcomes, including Biotalys' IPO and the acquisitions of PharmaFluidics, Multiplicom, and Biogazelle, typically joins a company's first outside funding round, tracks founder diversity (6 of 19 Qbic II CEOs were women, and 16 were first-time CEOs), and applies ESG principles as a UN PRI signatory.
