Launch NY is the only nonprofit venture development organization that is also a U.S. Treasury–designated Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) focused on high-growth startups across all of Upstate New York, blending VC-style startup investing with a community-impact CDFI mandate typically reserved for more traditional businesses. The organization operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose core product is long-term, pro bono mentorship for high-growth founders, with investing layered on top, and runs one of the first nonprofit, evergreen seed funds in the U.S. focused on a multi-city regional ecosystem where returns recycle back into the fund to continually finance new Upstate New York startups instead of flowing to private LPs.
