Hakan Goker trained as an oncology scientist, earning a PhD from the Institute of Cancer Research/University of London and doing postdoctoral work at the Royal Marsden, before moving into biotech investing, and he has personally helped start companies like Bicycle Therapeutics, Nimbus Discovery, f-Star, Orphazyme, Storm Therapeutics, Ribometrix, and Artios rather than just investing in them later. Since 2013 he has helped shape M Ventures' strategy as it grew from about €30 million to €600 million in allocations, and he is known for backing scientific risk in both drug development and lab tools like detection and bioprocessing technology.
