Alter Global began in 2015 out of Stanford GSB as a nonprofit supporting emerging-market founders before becoming a venture fund, and it built its network by exploring 16 emerging tech cities, meeting nearly 2,000 entrepreneurs, and turning a select group of chosen founders into local scouts for future deals. The fund focuses on fintech, commerce enablement, and logistics for founders building in markets like Brazil, Indonesia, Egypt, and Pakistan, backed by dedicated investors based in Latin America and the Middle East & Africa.
