Before joining Capricorn, Jy Bhardwaj spent his career building and running photonics and optical communications businesses—founding Scion Photonics, leading its integration into JDSU after acquisition, and later serving as CTO/SVP of R&D at Lumileds—while also being named on MEMS and silicon-etching research, giving him an engineering foundation that goes well beyond typical investing backgrounds. He's also known for connecting lighting technology to communications infrastructure, including making the case that Li-Fi could help move bulk data traffic off crowded radio spectrum, and for arguing—including in U.S. Department of Energy keynote talks—that solid-state lighting still has significant room for technical advancement.
