Marcus Clover moved into venture investing after working directly on hydrogen engineering, including building a hydrogen-powered drone and hydrogen fuel cells for heavy vehicles, and he now focuses on electrochemistry at ERV, backing companies in hydrogen production, grid-scale storage, structural batteries, and battery recycling while also serving as a director of Prosemino, the UK's first electrochemistry-focused venture builder. He supports founders with real lab space, including 4,000 square feet of wet chemistry and dry lab facilities at ERV, and he tends to view hydrogen as most useful where electrification alone can't do the job, such as in steel, aviation fuel, ammonia, and long-duration energy storage.
