Parker Beauchamp grew up around insurance through his family's agency and Lloyd's of London, and went on to handle complex risk cases for high-net-worth individuals, celebrities, and athletes before leading INGUARD, an early online insurance seller that in 2013 became the first insurer in the world to accept Bitcoin for premiums. He now invests at Markd, where he put his own money in as an anchor investor in the firm's debut fund.
About their Fund
Markd is a venture capital fund founded by a fifth-generation insurance professional, built specifically to connect established insurance companies with new founders rather than starting as a general fund; it manages money on behalf of insurance companies and their distribution partners, aiming for both financial returns and innovation partnerships, and it offers founders real access to existing insurance infrastructure like carriers, regulatory approvals, and distribution teams. Its investment approach favors improving on existing insurance systems rather than trying to disrupt them, stays flexible on company stage or deal size as long as the business can meaningfully help insurance, and focuses on data-driven and AI-related tools along with specialized or infrastructure-heavy insurance businesses rather than typical consumer insurance apps.
