Sami Niemi co-founded and served as CTO of Scalado, where imaging software he helped build reached more than a billion licenses across the smartphone industry, and after Nokia acquired the company he went on to lead photography efforts globally within Microsoft’s Windows group; he’s also known in Malmö as one of the owners behind The Ground, a hub built to support the city’s next wave of startups. At Spintop Ventures, he leads an internal AI framework called Zuri that acts as a sparring partner for the investment team, and he tends to be drawn to technically demanding companies—like Embedl—that turn hard research into real products, a pattern he recognizes from his own path at Scalado.
