Troy Bannister spent about 15 years in healthcare as an EMT, medical student, and clinical researcher before starting Particle, giving him firsthand knowledge of how messy medical data access really is, and he used that experience to build a developer-friendly way to share health records, similar to how Plaid or Stripe work for other industries. He knows the technical and regulatory details behind healthcare data standards like FHIR and TEFCA, prefers practical solutions over trendy technology, believes the real value in healthcare data will come from the analysis built on top of it rather than access alone, and now also helps hospitals responsibly evaluate and adopt new AI tools.
