Yury’s founder story starts far from venture capital: born in Belarus, raised partly in Canada, and shaped by Queens’ informal economy, he built each of his companies—Wing, Life House, and Elemy—out of a problem he’d lived through himself, from a $3,000 roaming bill to renting out his own bedroom to his childhood experience with behavioral therapy, all while sleeping on a couch, teaching himself to code, and working alongside the Johns Hopkins friends who later became his cofounders. That same hands-on approach carries into how he invests today: he looks for investors who care about changing the world over just making money, favors hybrid, in-home care over pure telehealth, and keeps his calendar deliberately open because he believes clear headspace, not back-to-back meetings, is what actually helps founders think well.
