Agent Capital was founded by Geeta Vemuri, who previously ran Baxter Ventures and Baxalta Ventures with more than $300 million under management, making her one of only four women in biopharma to have founded a venture capital group and what she described as a rare opportunity for a woman, and specifically a woman of color, in life sciences VC. The firm's team includes former senior operators from companies like Alexion, Baxalta, Baxter, Novartis, J&J, Cephalon, Ophthotech, MedImmune, and Ipsen, and its first fund, sized at $63.5 million, invested in 15 core biopharma companies focused on rare disease, oncology, neurology, and immunology, with four of those companies going public.
