Xfund is Harvard's first VC fund that deliberately seeks technically capable founders with liberal-arts backgrounds and nontraditional degrees, operating through a global network of elite universities where faculty advisers send them their top students. The fund explicitly aims to change the risk calculus for elite, often first-generation students by providing a credible alternative to consulting and finance jobs, allowing them to become venture-backed CEOs straight out of school.
