Zane Ventures was founded by Shila Nieves Burney after her daughter was shot in 2018, driving the fund's mission to create generational wealth for Black and Brown founders through investments in companies addressing health equity and social determinants of health. The Atlanta-based fund built its ecosystem in reverse order by running a 12-week pre-capital program and founder events before raising capital, focusing on underrepresented founders in the Southeast and other overlooked regions.
