David Goldman is a partner at Celesta Capital, an early stage deep tech fund with offices in Silicon Valley, Bangalore, and Montreal that leads seed and Series A rounds (with some Series B) and writes first checks of $3M to $12M into companies built around a technology innovation, including semiconductors, intelligent systems, infrastructure software, AI, and bioconvergence.
He started his career as a semiconductor investment banker before joining a multifamily office that was an LP in Celesta, which meant he first got to know the firm from the other side of the table by evaluating co-investments alongside it. That LP background shapes how he thinks about the raise: he treats funds as institutions with incentives and internal dynamics rather than yes-or-no machines, and much of his advice to founders is about reading those dynamics, from routing an intro through the right person to asking whether a firm finishes its business diligence before issuing a term sheet. He writes about deep tech and semiconductors on his Substack, Close to the Metal.
