Erica Maissy holds a PhD and works as a UCSF postdoctoral fellow studying how gut bacteria affect joint health, and she has published research on engineering the microbiome for women's health as well as a Cell paper on using E. coli to deliver genes inside the gut, giving her a rare science background that spans metabolism, reproduction, and engineering biology.
