Joe Cunningham is a founding physician-investor at Santé Ventures who helped spin out their healthcare venture practice from Austin Ventures in 2006 and built a team where roughly half the investors are MDs, supported by a 60+ member Strategic Advisory Council. As former Chief Medical Officer of Providence Health System and Executive Director of the 300-physician Providence Health Alliance within Ascension Health, he brings direct experience with provider organizations and physician alignment that he applies to evaluating healthcare ventures, while also serving as Chair of Innovation for the Texas A&M System to help shape regional innovation strategy.
