Patricio Jutard's path into building companies started with using whiteboards and Post-its to design games at Three Melons, and losing that creative process after Disney bought the company is what pushed him to build Mural as a digital version of that shared workspace, an experience that also taught him how large corporations actually buy software. Before Newtopia, he had already backed and mentored early-stage companies like Auth0, Satellogic, Tiendanube, and Jampp through Inspirit Angels, and he still tells the story of how the Mural team once refunded its first paying customer because they assumed the payment was a mistake, only to realize it was the clearest sign the product was working.
About their Fund
Newtopia is backed by well-known Latin American business leaders and athletes, was founded by people who helped build Argentina's startup policies and later teamed up with experienced leaders from across the region's tech scene, and focuses on very early-stage companies—starting from just an idea—through a structured 10-week program meant to help them reach product-market fit, filling a gap many see in Latin America between the idea stage and later funding rounds. The fund only backs companies that could realistically return its full $50 million size on their own, tends to prefer business-focused (B2B) companies where software drives growth, and in crypto only invests in startups that make things easier to use and more accessible, all reflecting its belief that Latin America needs more startups being created, not just more money available to invest.
