Alvaro Rodriguez moved into venture capital after seeing the returns and impact of microfinance through Banco Compartamos, and before joining IGNIA he held senior operating roles as CFO of Grupo Elektra and Vitro and CEO of Farmacias Benavides, giving him hands-on business experience that shapes how he supports the companies he backs; he has also become a go-to local partner for foreign startups entering Mexico, including Abra and Pangea. Beyond investing, he co-founded the Social Progress Index, is known for combining brutal honesty with real care for the people he works with, and competes internationally in rowing after winning a medal at the Pan American Games.
