Mike McCauley started BufferBox after missing a package during a co-op in California, building it from a University of Waterloo campus project into a real locker network in GO Transit stations before it was acquired by Google, where he also worked on the Fi launch team and at Google X. He later became an investor through the same Waterloo to Velocity Garage to Y Combinator path he came up through, making 40+ YC company investments while staying based between Waterloo and San Francisco.
