Phil Austin combines graduate training in pharmaceutical chemistry and chemical engineering with experience at McKinsey and Atlas Venture, and he led the opening of Anterra's first U.S. office in Boston. He tends to focus on proving out the science behind a company before getting excited about it, values having a close partner to build a fund with rather than going it alone, and describes himself as someone who has always liked questioning how things are usually done.
