Vishal Vasishth has spent two decades championing a simple but powerful idea: the most valuable companies of our time will be those that solve humanity’s hardest problems. He calls this World Positive Capitalism—a model where purpose isn’t separate from profit, but the engine behind it.
In 2014, Vishal co-founded Obvious Ventures, a deep tech and a frontier fund based on this conviction. Today, the firm manages $1.5B across seven funds, backing companies such as Beyond Meat (IPO), Recursion Pharmaceuticals (IPO), Planet (IPO), Gusto (unicorn), Diamond Foundry (unicorn), Virta Health (unicorn), Dexterity (unicorn), Iterative Health (unicorn), and Devoted Health (decacorn).
Before co-founding Obvious, Vishal was the founding partner of India-based SONG Investment Advisors and a senior executive at Steve Case’s Revolution LLC. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade at Patagonia, the outdoor apparel and gear company, where he held roles ranging from product manager to Chief Strategy Officer. He is a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute.
Vishal earned a B.Tech in India, an M.S. from North Carolina State University, and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Vishal grew up in Chandigarh, India, and currently resides with his wife north of the Golden Gate in Marin. He is an avid cricket fan and aspiring batsman.
